What is project management?

Project management is the discipline of planning, organizing and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives. It is often closely related to and sometimes conflated with Program management.

Summary

Posted by Mackoy at 4:41 AM 0 comments
Networking is a combination of techniques, physical connection, and computer programs used to link two or more computers. Network users are able to share files, printers and other resources.

In the proposed network design, faculty and students of the College of Information and Communications Technology could easily access shared files. The network also has a password, so that files are safe against intruders and hackers. The topology that is used in rooms is the Star topology.

The network design that was done by the team will be helpful in the whole college. If one needs to access certain information (or files) from another building or room, he/she does not have to walk anymore. The person will just have to access it from the network.

Feasibility of Implementation

Posted by Mackoy at 4:37 AM 0 comments
Whenever there is a communication between two devices that is already networked, the users are able to share files, printers and other hardware and software resources. And with this, College of Information and Communications Technology is one of the colleges that must prefer for a networked establishment.

To make it to reality, first it must have a network design for a better picture of the type of connection of the college. In the proposed network design, star topology is used not only because it is the mostly applied type of network topology but also for one of its major advantages wherein every workstation are connected to a switch or a hub, and whenever workstation fails, the whole system will not be affected. But this also has a disadvantage which is when the hub fails, the whole network collapses. Star topology is great in connecting large number of computers and of wire lengths. It also offers centralized resource management, which can reduce cost in the long run by network management much easy. With star topology it is easy to add workstation.

The numbers of hubs are placed at each room for better maintenance and manipulation, and these hubs are linked through wires for each storey and buildings. This network design is good to be implemented for it has good advantages with regards to the availability and ability of transferring files.

We also used server-based type of network that will help to the maintenance of the network connections and the units. This network design is also cost-effective for it uses affordable equipments. Connecting wires are placed through the walls for more convenience rather than placing wires on the floor that sometimes might lead to accidents. This helps the college to have easy transactions with regards to file sharing and people communication.

Server-based type of network is design to network more than ten computers. It is also design to serve the request of client for the network resources. It can also handle up to thousands of users to keep pace with growth and expansion of an organization. Also, with this type of network, data back-ups and file synchronization are easier. With that, rules and regulations must be implemented within the college of Information and Communication Technology, in line with the maintenance of the network and for the security of the files to avoid damage and data loss. They must also know how to give importance to the various resources used in their college.

Of course, there should be a big consideration on the costing because designing a network for a college is expensive including the software and hardware set-up.

Network Management Strategies

Posted by Mackoy at 4:35 AM 0 comments

When deciding a management solution for the physical infrastructure of IT networks, management of individual devices is necessary in order to have visibility to the many data points required for the reliable operation of network-critical physical infrastructure (NCPI). Element management solutions present the optimum approach as they manage a particular type of device and have the ability to assimilate and, more importantly, make manageable the large volume of data necessary for network availability.

It is important also to manage all aspects of a network’s life cycle beyond initial operation including the preventive and corrective maintenance, service problems and interruptions as well as the application of standards and best practices. The proposed network design requests proper management, maintenance and strategies. The devices that are not working well must change and those of the devices that need to upgrade can be restore so that it can keep it running again.

Obtaining an internet connection in able to update the Anti Virus to monitor and to scan regularly the computers network and some other computer device such as flash disks. Anti Virus software improves internet accessibility by making it safe to download and upload data and files Personal firewall service is also made available where in u can configure who in your network can share/ access your computer. All harmful and malicious software that is capable of destroying your hard drive, privacy as well as the network capabilities are identified by anti-virus and either deleted quarantined or removed.

Design Requirement Analysis

Posted by Mackoy at 3:41 AM 0 comments
The basic requirement of “A Structured Data Networking Design for BulSU-CICT” is that it should be accessible, fast, secured, flexible and efficient connection to share, print, e-mail, access internet, database access and other specialized applications. All students have ability to access e-mail, web browsing, files sharing and printing if needed. All faculty and staff have the same privileges with all the student and laptop connection from anywhere and secure access. Technical Staff should configure, fault, perform and secure networking management. Laptop includes in IP addressing assignment. Some of the requirements may lead to problem issues that should be resolved, or one may sometimes have to make a decision in which difficult selection from a number of alternatives may be available. The principle was set up that we make a specification from scratch and consider every alternative that we can think of when we make a decision.

Project Scope

Posted by Mackoy at 3:41 AM 0 comments
This document is a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the data network design, and for the procurement of equipment and works that are required to achieve the College’s goals. This project also ensures the accuracy, efficiency, security, and functionality of its implementation.

Project Goal

Posted by Mackoy at 3:39 AM 0 comments
The main purpose of this project is to design a data network to support its application. This will provide connectivity and access to different services (e.g, Internet, e-mail, file and printer sharing) to all faculty and staff and better classroom instruction to the students. This project will also implement the security while the authorized user wants to access a certain application.

Introduction

The College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT) is an educational institution that has a lot of significant information to offer and provide for the students and faculty. Thru the continuously innovation of technology, computer related studies became so in demand to the society.

College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT) building is located near the main entrance of the university. The third and fourth floors are the Academic Building houses of CICT’s BSIT and BIT-Computer Technology program. In addition, the ground floor of the Natividad Hall which is for the computer-related courses and the newly acquired second floor of the Marcelo H. del Pilar College of Law Building for additional laboratory and lecture rooms. On the ground floor of Natividad Hall located the four laboratory classrooms and an Internet Rental facility.

In line with this, the CICT has more than 60 faculty members skilled in the diversified field of ICT. Mr. Fausto Hilario as College Dean. Mr. Jaime P. Pulumbarit, Mrs. Eunice B. Custodio, and Mrs. Raquel C. Adriano, was appointed as development head for BSIT program, BIT-Computer Technology Program and Computer Relates Courses respectively.

CICT is constantly increasing its services to support its students, faculty, and staff as it increased in population. The researchers propose a plan to design a data network for its infrastructure to provide better support to the whole college.
